Apparatus

The most sensitive experimental systems of our lab are located in two acoustically and electrically shielded cells. These systems exploit scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) at low temperature and in ultrahigh vacuum (UHV):

• A low-temperature UHV STM for atomic and molecular manipulation (cell #1).
• A variable-temperature UHV STM (cell #2).
• A variable-temperature UHV hybrid quantum point contact STM (cell #2).

Additional probes are in development.
